How Long Is The Training for Estheticians in Florida?

If you are at least 16 years of age, you are legally allowed to enroll in any esthetician school in Florida. Many of these schools offer all kinds of advanced courses and training exercises, although the state’s Board of Cosmetology has mandated that only 260 total hours of training be completed. Due to the relatively short course length, the cost of esthetician schools in Florida is not too high either.

What You’ll Learn

This kind of training offers many different ways for individuals to learn everything they could ever want about skincare. These schools offer training courses in subjects such as facial massage, hair removal, exfoliation, nutrition, skin analysis, business skills, laws, career planning, alternative facial techniques, and much more.

When you have completed school and are ready to apply for your certification, you can do this in one of two ways. You can either apply online or by downloading, printing out and filling out a paper application. Suppose you choose to submit a paper application. In that case, you will need to ensure that you also provide an application fee, proof that you have completed a Board-approved HIV/AIDS course, the Certification of Eligibility portion of your application from your school, and documentation regarding previous course evaluations.

If you hold a skin care specialty license from another state, you will likely be able to apply for your license solely based on an endorsement. You must be at least 16 years old, have a license with similar or greater regulations as Florida, a high school diploma, 260 hours of necessary education, and other requirements.

Keeping Your Esthetician License in FL Up-To-Date

Your specialist license must be renewed by October 31st each year, and you must also pay a fee. The state Board of Cosmetology also needs you to complete at least 16 hours of supplemental education every two years. This is something that you will be responsible for documenting and can be in things such as laser or microblading.

Newly minted estheticians in FL can find work to start their careers in a variety of ways. It can be worthwhile to check job search sites such as employflorida to get an idea of starting wages for entry employment or even to find a job.
