To be accepted in the State of Nevada for esthetics licensure, you must attend an approved program at a school that offers a curriculum of at least 900 hrs. The Nevada Board also requires you to complete an application request form before you’re permitted to take your final licensing. If you want to become a medical skin care specialist in NV, you’ll need extra hours of training. Costs can vary considerably. Check out schools closest to you by using your ZIP below:

Once You’ve Esthetics Graduated…

Submit your In-State student application, call your aesthetician school (you can get some hours online), and ask them to contact the Nevada State Board and send them copies of your verification records for your graduation credentials. You’ll want to make sure the hours worked and subjects studied are included. Once the Nevada Board has a chance to review your application and accept it, you’ll be notified with a mail packet with the full application.

Taking the Exam

The Nevada Board of Cosmetology mandates that you pass 3 exams with test scores higher than 75% in order to be considered for an esthetics license. This includes the Nevada state law exam, the written exam, and the practical exam.

The Nevada Board employs National Interstate Counsel to verify all practical and written exams. once you complete these two exams and the Nevada State Law Exam, you’ll receive your esthetics license.

Written Exam

Before you start, take the time to read and download the bulletin on information for written exam candidates. The exam will require about 1.5 hours of your time and will help evaluate your skills as an esthetician.

Practical Exam

You’ll want to read and download the bulletin on information for practical exam candidates. This exam takes a little longer, so give yourself a little more than two hours to complete it.

The Nevada State Law Exam

Download and read the bulletin on information for the Nevada law test. The Nevada Board will mandate that you understand the working knowledge of codes and statutes. To accomplish this, you’ll need to go online and order the Nevada Law Book. After passing and completing the exam, the Board recommends that you stay up-to-date with the laws by serving a term on the board or attending a board meeting.

For Out of State Applicants

Even if you already have an esthetician license from a different state, you’ll still be required by state law to apply for an out-of-state license but will likely not need any extra training due to reciprocity.

Those without employment already secured can get help finding a job with a good starting salary here.

Renewals are every 2yrs on your birthday; they also require 30 additional hours during your 2 yrs if a cosmetology instructor.

Also, take a look at what you’ll learn in laser school if you decide to go that route as well.
