Find out more about nail technician schools online here.
If you’d like to become a nail tech in the state of Louisiana you’ll first need to apply to one or more schools.
Once you’re accepted and you’ve completed 500 hours of training to finish all the required courses, you’ll next have to pass the various exams. Some of the subjects you’ll be required to master are artificial nails, manicures, pedicures, Louisiana beauty laws, sanitation and safety, professional conduct, and so on. Enter your ZIP below to see where you can train nearby to become a licensed LA nail technician.
Once your nail instructors/teachers are satisfied with your knowledge you are ready to take exams all of which you must pass with a grade of 70% or better. The total cost for all exams and your license comes to $100.
The first exam is the National-Interstate Council (NIC) written exam. The NIC exam covers topics like safety procedures, nail bacteria and viruses, what different nail products are used for, anatomy, equipment, and of course manicures and pedicures.
Secondly, the LA practical exam will cover activities and procedures like manicure station set-up — including supplies, simple manicure, nail repair, nail tip creation, and simple acrylic nails. In order to get ready for this exam there is a guide making clear the exam instructions, supply list, dress code and so on. The Louisiana practical exam is preceded by your application and application fee but don’t worry, schools and institutes are experienced with guiding you through the process.
The third exam is concerned with LA state beauty laws and regulations. Don’t neglect becoming familiar with Louisiana Professional and Occupational Standards. Again your school will be able to guide you in preparing for this exam.
Once you’ve passed all your exams you will be issued a license and be ready to start your new career!
