Yes there are plenty of places for an esthetician to go to school in Kentucky, but did you know its rich soil produces luxuriant bluegrass which is why Kentucky’s nickname is “The Bluegrass State”. In fact, Louisville is located in the the state’s bluegrass region.

If you like natural beauty KY is a good place to be a student as there are lots of outdoor opportunities including Mammoth Caves and many, many rivers and streams for paddleboarders and boaters.

Kentucky is also home to many respected educational institutions including Transylvania University, considered to be one of the best liberal arts colleges in the country.

High quality beauty schools abound as well and many teach skin care. Find out what training is necessary to become an esthetician below…

How to Get Your Kentucky Skin Care License

Kentucky esthetician education is stringent requiring at least 1,000 hours of training followed by exams before you get your license through the cosmetology board. Though some states allow for apprenticeship training most don’t have provision for it in the esthetics field — Kentucky is no exception.

Once you have your license you will be required to renew it annually. However, there is no continuing education requirement. But it is always a good idea to get professional upgrades — such as for medical aesthetics or through online training — whenever possible and if you are passionate about your profession CE should be something you want to do anyway!

Graduates in the field should have no problem finding employment as job outlook is good both in Kentucky and nationally with demand predicted to increase for the next 7 years. Most estheticians work in spas and salons but there are many chances for those with some chutzpah to start their own business.
